Legal Support

Providing expert documentation, legal guidance, and advocacy to ensure justice and safety for LGBTQI+ immigrants and asylum seekers.

OURS IN THE USA assists LGBTQI+ immigrants and asylum seekers with legal and documentary support throughout their asylum process.

We help individuals prepare essential documents, connect with immigration attorneys, and issue official support letters that strengthen asylum cases.

Our organization also prepares expert human rights reports used in U.S. immigration court proceedings.

The President of OURS IN THE USA, Dmitrii Tur, is the author of an expert report on the situation of LGBTQI+ people in Russia and the co-author of a report on violations of LGBTQI+ migrants’ rights in U.S. detention centers.
Both documents are used by attorneys and paralegals nationwide to support asylum and humanitarian cases.

What We Do

  • Prepare official support letters confirming LGBTQI+ identity and community membership.
  • Assist with asylum forms such as I-589 and I-765, and connect clients with legal partners.
  • Provide expert opinions and human rights reports for court cases.
  • Support LGBTQI+ individuals held in immigration detention centers through the #EndLGBTDetention project.
  • Offer educational materials and workshops about legal rights and asylum procedures.

Expert Reports

OURS IN THE USA prepares expert reports and research materials used in U.S. immigration courts and human rights advocacy.
These documents provide verified information about the persecution of LGBTQI+ people in Russia and the conditions faced by LGBTQI+ migrants in U.S. detention centers.

A comprehensive human rights report on violations and discrimination faced by LGBTQI+ migrants in U.S. immigration detention centers.
The report was presented to the UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in Russia and is used by attorneys and organizations advocating for the end of LGBTQI+ detention.
