First Russian-Speaking LGBTQI+ Community Meeting in Los Angeles

On February 17, 2024, OURS IN THE USA held the first-ever meeting of the Russian-speaking LGBTQI+ community in Los Angeles, bringing together 55 participants.

The event became a landmark moment for connection and visibility within the community. Attendees shared their stories, discussed adaptation challenges, and explored ways to support one another in a new country. The atmosphere was warm, open, and filled with mutual respect and encouragement.

The meeting was also attended by representatives of local media and the Chair of the Russian-Speaking Advisory Board of West Hollywood, Eugene Maysky, who shared his impressions:

“This kind of gathering is happening in Los Angeles for the very first time. I truly enjoyed the event and hope such meetings will take place more often.”

The success of this first meeting laid the foundation for future community gatherings and initiatives by OURS IN THE USA aimed at strengthening support networks, advocacy, and solidarity among Russian-speaking LGBTQI+ immigrants in the United States.
